Smith Softball Announces 2026 Season Schedule

January 20, 2026

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Smith College softball program has unveiled its schedule for the upcoming 2026 season. The slate features a competitive mix of regional non-conference opponents, a 10-game spring break trip to Florida, and a rigorous NEWMAC conference schedule.

"The team is poised and energized as we head into the 2026 season," said Head Coach Emily Lopez. "With a combination of strong leadership and a first year class eager to compete, this group is ready to rise to the challenging schedule we have both in the NEWMAC and with our non-conference opponents."

The Florida Swing The Bears will escape the New England cold to open their season in Clermont, Florida. From March 15 to March 20, Smith will compete in 10 games across Hancock Park and the Legends Way Ballfields. The season opener is set for the morning of March 15 against Ramapo College, followed immediately by a matchup with Worcester State.

The Florida trip will test the Bears early against a variety of opponents, including Trinity (CT), Wesleyan, McDaniel, Augsburg, Plymouth State, Franklin & Marshall, Colby College, and Lawrence.

Home Sweet Home Smith returns to Northampton for their Home Opener on March 27, hosting Keene State for a doubleheader at the Smith Softball Field starting at 2:00 PM.

Fans will have plenty of opportunities to catch the Bears at home this spring. Key home doubleheaders include:

  • Babson College (March 28)

  • Westfield State (March 31)

  • Salve Regina (April 10)

  • Clark University (April 18)

  • WPI (April 24)

  • MIT (May 1)

NEWMAC and Regional Rivalries The Bears will face a challenging road slate as well, traveling to face conference foes Emerson (April 3), Wheaton (April 4), Springfield (April 17), Coast Guard (April 25), and Wellesley (May 2) to close out the regular season.

In addition to conference play, the Bears have notable non-conference matchups against local rivals, including a trip to Amherst College on April 8 and a home-and-home series with Williams College (hosting on April 14, traveling to Williamstown on April 22).

Be sure to catch the Bears both at home at the Smith College Softball Field or on FloSports.com.
