NORTHAMPTON, Mass. — Smith College first-year Violet Peverly (Granby, CT/Loomis Chaffee) has been named the NEWMAC Pitcher of the Week after anchoring a perfect 4-0 week for the Bears, delivering two complete-game victories in four days while allowing just one earned run across 14.0 innings of work.

Dominant in the Circle

Peverly opened the week Wednesday in Amherst with a masterclass in efficiency, going the distance in a 6-1 win over Amherst College. She issued zero walks and faced just 27 batters — the minimum — over seven innings, scattering seven hits while allowing just one unearned run on 99 pitches. Two days later at home against Salve Regina, Peverly was even more commanding by hit count, limiting the Seahawks to three hits and one earned run over seven more innings while striking out six. She completed the outing on 104 pitches, earning her eighth complete game of the season.

Week at a Glance

Combined across her two starts, Peverly held opponents to a .185 batting average, posting a 0.64 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP with nine strikeouts against just three walks in 14.0 innings. The zero-walk, zero-earned-run performance against Amherst — in which she faced the minimum — was the week's signature outing. Peverly now owns a 7-5 record on the season with eight complete games, and has been the backbone of a Smith rotation that rode her two wins to extend its NEWMAC winning streak to four games.
