NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The sixth-seeded Smith College softball team (16-12) faces fourth-seeded Springfield (19-11-1) in a
4:00 p.m. elimination game on Saturday at the 2014 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Softball Championship hosted by top-seeded Wellesley.
Regular Season: Springfield took two from the Pioneers (4-3 and 4-1 – 6 inn.) on April 4.
The Series: Springfield is 27-9 overall and 3-1 in NEWMAC tournament action. The last Smith win was also the lone postseason win over the Pride as the Pioneers claimed a 6-5 victory on April 23, 2008.
