Cyr's late goal not enough in 2-1 loss to Endicott

Box Score NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - In spite of a late goal by junior Jamie Cyr (Danville, Vt./Danville), the Endicott College Gulls edged out the Smith College Pioneers 2-1 in Wednesday's non-conference soccer match.

Endicott (2-1-1) gained control of the lead with a goal in the 60th minute, followed later by a second goal in the 68th minute. Smith (1-1-1) junior Jamie Cyr (Danville, Vt./Danville) reacted to cut Endicott's lead in half when she found the back of the net in the 88th minute. The Pioneers fought hard but it was not enough to come back.

Endicott out-shot Smith (25-12) and finished with more corner kicks (4-0). Junior Jordan Houston (Logan, Utah/Logan), first-year Vicki Kraft (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./Our Lady of the Lourdes), and senior Jenna Bicierro (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park) led Smith in shots with two each. Goalkeeper Shelby Hall (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) recorded a season-best 15 saves, as her shutout streak to begin her collegiate career came to an end at 260:28 minutes.

Smith will look to bounce back when it hosts the Elms College Trailblazers on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 4 p.m.
