Smith Athletics Hall of Fame
Agnes Rodgers Bixler '29 was a three-year member of the All-Smith field hockey team which included a unanimous selection as a forward in 1928. During her senior year Agnes earned the "S" pin which was awarded to outstanding athletes in the senior year. Agnes was a member of the United States Field Hockey team her senior year and also in 1929 and 1933, as well as a member of the US touring team that went to Australia in 1938. She was captain of her class basketball and baseball teams and a member of the "lifeguards", a synchronized swimming group. Agnes was also a track & field star, winning the 50-yard dash, discus throw, javelin throw, and baseball throw, as well as high and low hurdles. She won the meet all four years with the most points.
