Smith Athletics Hall of Fame
A standout two-sport athlete, Bonnie Benson-Gorrasi ’00 made a lasting mark on Smith College athletics through her exceptional performances most notably on the softball field. A dominant pitcher and fierce competitor, Benson-Gorrasi was the cornerstone of Smith’s softball success during her career, guiding the team to its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1998.
On the diamond, her individual accolades are unmatched. She was a four-time NEWMAC All-Conference and NFCA All-Region selection from 1997 to 2000, and was named the 1998 NEWMAC Player of the Year. Academically and athletically accomplished, she earned numerous honors including NEWMAC Academic All-Conference, NFCA Scholar-Athlete recognition, and CoSIDA Academic All-America distinction.
Statistically, Benson-Gorrasi rewrote the Smith College record books. She currently holds career records for most wins (63), shutouts (22), complete games (85), and strikeouts (516), among others. She also ranks in the top 10 in multiple career batting categories, showcasing her all-around talent.
Benson-Gorrasi helped lead Smith to the 1998 NEWMAC title as well as deep postseason runs in the ECAC and NCAA tournaments.
