The 2004 Crew Varsity Eight - Elizabeth Godshall '05, Kristina Latta-Landefeld '06, Anna Crary '04, Katharine Seston '05, Mary 'Alex' Kennedy '05, Leigh Eubank '06, Elizabeth Higgins '06, Elizabeth Niebur '05, Sarah Vorhies '06 captured silver (7:00.9) and was just one tenth of a second behind champion Ithaca (7:00.8) at the NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championships.

The 'Rosemary Tran', with Stephanie Smith '05 in the bow seat for a majority of the season, entered 'the show' undefeated having dominated the field by open water most of the campaign. The Pioneers won the NEWMAC Championship and New England Rowing Championships by over seven seconds, leading their team to not only a Women's Points Trophy, but an Overall (men's and women's) Team Points trophy, the only time that has been achieved by a single gender program. The eight faced down a fierce challenge from WPI at the ECAC National Invitational Collegiate Regaata, winning by two tenths of a second in an aggressive sprint.

The group, which introduced, what is known today as, Super Hero Friday as a means to blow off steam before Saturday's races, also captured the Seven Sisters Championship and hauled in victories against RPI, Skidmore, WPI, Colby, Wesleyan, UMass Lowell, Trinity, Holy Cross, Mount Holyoke and the eight teams at the Tufts Regatta during the regular season.
