Smith Athletics Hall of Fame
Kelley Duran's abilities on the hill spoke volumes during her decorated career at Smith. Her infectious personality, leadership skills and talent made her a team captain after her first season on the team. A member of the Class of 2004, Duran is a three-time United States Collegiate Ski Association (USCSA) All-American who competed at the National Championships in 2001, 2002, and 2004. Although she qualified for nationals her junior year, she elected to forego the National Championships to compete at the Deaflympics in Sweden. In addition to her All-American credit, Duran was named All-East Conference, All-MacDonnell Division, and All-Osborne Division all four years on the team. Her Deaflympic career is just as impressive, winning five medals from two Deaflympics. After graduating from Smith in 2004, Duran went back to school to get a Master of Arts in Linguistics from Gallaudet University and a Master of Science in Software Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). She has since worked at RIT as a lecturer in the Department of Information and Computing Studies and National Technical Institute for the Deaf and as a Software Engineer in the technology industry.
