Christina Hobson ’99 was a force for the Pioneers during her two-year stint on the Smith College basketball team from 1997-1999. After transferring from Bowdoin, Hobson had standout junior and senior campaigns where she totaled a combined 900 points and finished atop the all-time scoring list with 1,619 career points. During the 1997-98 season, Hobson set the single-season scoring record (502 points) and made a program-best: 136 free throws. Her outstanding play earned her several achievements as she was honored as a two-time ECAC All-Star, two-time NEWMAC All-Conference selection, and NEWBA Senior All-Star. After graduating from Smith, she was recruited by the Women’s Swiss Basketball Federation to be a member of the La-Chaux-de-Fonds Team in the National B-Level League. Hobson’s talents went beyond the basketball court as she was a standout rugby player for Smith’s club team. Following graduation, Hobson participated in various rugby clubs across the nation including the Hartford Wild Rose, Morris Pride, New York Rugby Club and the USA Rugby Eagles. She now resides in New Jersey and is a math teacher and volleyball coach at Morris Knolls High School.
